Dennis is a native of Kansas City, Missouri, graduating from Southwest High School there. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Northwest Missouri State University and later earned his meteorology certification through Mississippi State University.

What transpired was a 31-year television weather career that took Dennis to KODE-TV, Joplin, Missouri, KQ-TV, St. Joseph, Missouri, WTVW, Evansville, Indiana, WSTM, Syracuse, New York, WPXI, Pittsburgh, PA, and WIBW-TV, Topeka, Kansas. Along the way, he dealt with a variety of weather challenges including tornado outbreaks, microbursts, intense lake effect snow events, coastal nor 'easter blizzards and devastating river and flash flood situations. This has provided a broad base of weather knowledge for Dennis to work from and to share with others.

Throughout his broadcast career, Dennis Bowman was a dedicated public servant. In 1986, he became the first broadcaster in Pennsylvania to receive the

National Weather Service's Public Service Award. He received this honor again in 1997 for special reports dedicated to severe weather safety.

As a versatile television personality, Dennis filled many other roles apart from weather forecasting. In Syracuse, he hosted "Bowling for Dollars" and a daily children's program "The STM Club". He emceed the Miss Syracuse and Miss New York Pageants, 1983-1985. The first girl he crowned was a 20 year old named Vanessa Williams.

An accomplished ventriloquist, Dennis has been in demand for thousands of entertainment ventures from educational school assemblies to AARP meetings, civic and church functions, fairs, festivals, and corporate seminars.

The parents of two grown daughters, Dennis and his wife Debbie have returned to Pittsburgh to make their home. Dennis is now involved with public speaking in the Pittsburgh area and around the nation. He can also be seen filling in, occasionally, as meteorologist for KDKA-TV.

Dennis is accredited by the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He holds the esteemed Seals of Approval from both organizations for his broadcasts.
